Altar/Sanctuary Guild
Setting the altar for communion is a great way to begin your Sunday
worship. Along with setting the altar, this ministry is responsible for
the baptistery and preparing the sanctuary for Holy Union/Matrimony
celebrations. The maintenance and creation of altar dressings and
banners are also an important part of the guild.
Building Ministry
Taking care of the building inside and out is the focus of this
ministry. They do repairs and routine maintenance on the church
building. This ministry provides ample opportunity for those skilled in
building maintenance work or for those who would like to learn.
Clown Ministry
The MCC Clowns serve our church in a fun and creative way. In other
words, they make us laugh. They often perform skits for worship services
and often entertain at socials and fundraisers. This ministry is always
looking for new people to "clown" around, but more importantly to
minister to others.
Congregational Care Ministry
A card in the mail can lift a person's spirit. This ministry is
responsible for sending welcome, birthday, get well, and thinking of you
cards. People with organizational skills may find correspondence to be
the place for them.
Grounds Ministry
This ministry is in charge of maintaining the grounds of the church
property. They plant flowers, water, mow the lawn and oversee the upkeep
of the ground's equipment. People who love to work outside will find a
place for themselves in this ministry.
Helping Hand Ministry
This ministry provides a great deal of the community outreach of our
church. They manage a monthly offering and a food pantry. The offering
assists people in need with rent, utilities, medicine or other
unexpected expenses. If you enjoy helping others this may be the
ministry for you.
Hospitality Ministry
Hospitality serves refreshments in Palmer Hall after the Sunday morning
worship services. This time of fellowship gives the church body an
opportunity to connect socially with one another. They often oversee
church dinners and pot lucks. If you have organizational or food
preparation skills, this ministry may be the one for you.
Library and Pride Store
MCC Lubbock has a wonderful church library and pride store. This
facility provides powerful outreach to people who want to borrow
Christian and gay/lesbian literature and who want to purchase pride
novelties and other gift items. People with an interest in running a
small store and in meeting people will want to involve themselves in
this ministry.
Music Ministry
Music is a vital component for the worship services of our church, and
we have many opportunities for you to utilize your gift of music. We
have a praise team, which leads the congregation in praise music. Our
vocal choir, hand chime choir, and sign choir provide special music
throughout the year. This ministry also provides opportunities to serve
as a soloist, pianist, and overhead projector technician.
Prayer Partner Ministry
Our church body believes in the power of prayer. The Prayer Partners
meet at 6:00 a.m. each Thursday to pray for the ministries, the pastors
and the congregation of MCC Lubbock. They also mail out prayer grams
when requested. This group welcomes all who want to join them in
intercessory prayer.
Rainbow Seekers Ministry
The Rainbow Seekers ministry is our small group ministry. We have
several groups, which meet in the homes of church members. These groups
pray and study together in a spirit of fun and fellowship. In addition,
they plan service projects for our church and local community. Cards
located on the foyer table provide various locations and times of all
the groups.
Stewardship Ministry
Our church believes that we are called to be good stewards of God’s
blessings. This ministry serves to teach and encourage the church body
about tithing and serving in church ministries. They welcome people with
creative minds to help plan for
activities and campaigns dealing with stewardship.
Transportation Ministry
If you have some extra room in your vehicle on Sundays and enjoy meeting
people this is the ministry for you. When someone needs a ride to
worship or a church activity this ministry provides transportation.
VISION Ministry
A major vehicle for communication and outreach is the VISION, our
church newsletter. This ministry really needs people willing to write
articles, sell ads and graffiti greetings, and help with monthly
mailings. If you have skills in the area of communication, you will find
the VISION a great way to do ministry and reach out to others.
Worship Ministry
This ministry oversees the organization and running of the worship
services. The Worship Team meets to do major planning for this ministry.
One may serve in this ministry as a greeter, usher, communion holder,
sound technician, scripture reader, and one who offers prayer.
